Floodgate Recognized in Architizer awards

We’re pleased to share that Floodgate is a 2026 Architizer Awards Finalist for Residential High Rise Design.

Floodgate is modern and its form is expressive. Twisting as the height increases, the tower responds to various views through the city and allows sunlight to reach the historic River Walk below. A harmonious relationship to the historic structures framing the project is established through the selection of compatible materials, aligning with and borrowing from proportions found in neighboring façades. The modern approach is expressed through clean lines, crisp detailing, floor-to-ceiling glass, an honest use of materials, and minimalist detailing.

At the river level, the limestone block of a historic floodwall is recycled into a new series of walls and portals holding to the original wall line, creating a permeable edge between walk and outdoor seating for the lower restaurant. Floating above this patio is a balcony for the upper restaurant, which also provides outdoor seating in a narrow space along the sidewalk next to the newly exposed stone demising wall of the adjacent building.

In the 2026 Architizer Awards, we’re among great company of the firms recognized in this category, including Studio Gang and 3XN. Since its opening in spring of 2025, Floodgate has been internationally recognized for its design, featuring an award from the Built Design Awards and Honorable Mentions from DNA Paris and Architecture Masterprize.
