Site Demolition at 17th and Guadalupe Streets Clears Way for The Linden’s Groundbreaking

The site at 17th and Guadalupe Streets in Austin’s museum district is one step closer to The Linden’s groundbreaking. Once completed, the 28-story luxury condo tower will be the tallest highrise northwest of the Capitol.
Demolition of the William Gammon Insurance building commenced this week, but not before the Austin Fire Department used the building for weeks of fire attack and search and rescue drills, allowing for invaluable real-world training.
Adding 117 residential units and 5,000 square feet of gallery and retail space to the neighborhood, The Linden heralds the first new construction in the historic area in decades. Rhode Partners’ concept bridges elegant, museum-influenced design with thoughtful use of materials, integrating contemporary art featured throughout the building’s interiors.
