The Penny is a new 20-story student housing tower in College Station, TX, that broke ground this past March. This premier student housing project will accommodate over 600 students in studio, one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom configurations with bed-to-bath parity, including townhomes. Shared amenities include multiple study spaces, a resort-style pool, a pickleball court, a state-of-the-art fitness center, package lockers, an automated market, and a dedicated pet area.

Located in the heart of College Station's popular Northgate District, the tower's architecture responds directly to the site's shape and zoning conditions. Large red and bronze window panels move across the dramatically rounded façade in gradients, creating a dynamic push-and-pull movement on the tower's exterior. Rhode Partners' interior design pays homage to Texas A&M's signature maroon, complemented by a warm palette of bronze finishes, woven textiles, sculptural elements, and custom millwork.

The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2027 for the following fall semester.
